川端康成 KAWABATA Yasunari
川端 康成（かわばた やすなり、1899年（明治32年）6月14日 – 1972年（昭和47年）4月16日）は、日本の小説家・文芸評論家。大正から昭和の戦前・戦後にかけて活躍した近現代日本文学の頂点に立つ作家の一人である。1968年に日本人初のノーベル文学賞を受賞。代表作は、『伊豆の踊子』『抒情歌』『禽獣』『雪国』『千羽鶴』『山の音』『眠れる美女』『古都』など。 多くの名誉ある文学賞を受賞し、日本ペンクラブや国際ペンクラブ大会で尽力したが、多忙の中、1972年（昭和47年）4月16日夜、72歳でガス自殺した。なお、遺書はなかった。 Yasunari Kawabata (川端 康成, Kawabata Yasunari, 11 June 1899 – 16 April 1972) was a Japanese novelist and short story writer whose spare, lyrical, subtly-shaded prose works won him the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1968, the first Japanese author to receive the award. His works have enjoyed broad international appeal and are still widely read.
