日産アートアワード NISSAN ART AWARD
NISSAN ART AWARD Vision of Nissan Art Award The Nissan Art Award is a biennial award presented to the emerging generation of Japanese artists to further their careers, enhance their presence in the international art world and create a social environment where people familiarize themselves with art. The award is intended to celebrate new developments in Japanese contemporary art and help provoke debate about visual art by promoting creative emerging artists. Through a prolonged commitment, the award can contribute towards outlining a history of Japanese contemporary art and artists, focusing particularly on their activities in the past two years. As a continuation of the award, Nissan Motor Corporation also adds the works of art to its collection for exhibiting internally and externally with the aim of providing a point of reference on Japanese contemporary art in the international art scene. Not only the Grand Prix winners, for all of the previous two editions’ finalists the award has served as a steppingstone to appearances at major art festivals, exhibitions and fairs around the world as well as influential art publications. For example, one of the 2015 finalists, Takahiro Iwasaki, was selected to represent Japan at this May’s Venice Biennale, known as the Olympic Games of contemporary art. 「日産アートアワード」が目指すもの 「日産アートアワード」は、才能ある日本人アーティストをグローバルな視点で選抜し、海外のアートシーンでプレゼンスを高めることを後押しすると共に、日本現代美術の軌跡を後世に残し、人々がアートに親しむ社会作りを目的に、隔年で開催される現代美術のアワードです。現代社会を瑞々しい感性で鋭く見抜き、特に過去２年間の活躍が目覚ましかったアーティストに贈られます。また、本アワードを継続し、日産自動車が作品を蒐集することで、国際アートシーンにおける日本現代美術の参照点となることを目指しています。 過去2回のファイナリストはグランプリのみならず本アワードを足がかりに、世界各地の大型アートフェスティバルや国際展、アートフェア、有力アートメディアなどで盛んに紹介されています。 例えば2015ファイナリストのひとり、岩崎貴宏は今年5月に行われる現代アートのオリンピックとも称される国際美術展ヴェネチアビエンナーレの日本代表に選出されるなど、ますますの活躍を見せています。
