ドミトリー・ヴルーベル Dmitri Vrubel, R.I.P. Dmitri Vrubel, Ruhe in Frieden

Dmitri Vrubel

Once upon a time, Dmitri and I became close friends in Berlin. To be precise: a close relationship in West- and East-Berlin.
His charming girlfriend always next to him. She was the trigger for the caption, the title of his famous work painted on the Berlin Wall. “Mein Gott, hilf mir diese tödliche Liebe zu überleben” (My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love. 神よ、この死に至る愛の中で我を生き延びさせ給え).
I helped his dealer Brodowski to participate at the TOKYO ART EXPO, exhibiting works by Vrubel and me. Afterwards he returned to Russia and we lost contact. His work can be seen in my book “Berlin – Wintermärchen ohne Mauer. A winter’s tale after the wall. ベルリン・壁のあとで” with an essay by Wim Wenders. Published through Ute Schiller Verlag (Berlin) and Libroport (Tokyo).
Today I read that Dmitri passed away at the age of 62. Very sad news for me.
