“Do you have somewhere to return to? If so, was it by accident, or was it decided already?”
A heart-touching, humanistic sentence by Berlin-based artist TEZUKA Aiko, embroidered on her work, see above picture. Several conclusions, when keeping the German word “Mutterkuchen” in mind, can be made. There could be happy ones or thoughtful ones. This kind of ambiguity makes us viewer, either gender, curious about the artist and her intentions.
The wonderful, with grande finesse curated exhibition “Mami Kosemura / Naoko Sekine / Aiko Tezuka” requires a complex and compassionate interaction from the viewer, because of its visual dialogue, sensitiveness and amazing conceptual aesthetics.
These significant contributions to the creation and development of the “now”, makes one think if the three almost same-age artists (1975-77) focus in their art practice on universality, avoiding overt symbolism and emphasizing anonymity over the expressive, the spectacle. In this context, both, contemplating through the art work, and, feeling through calm sensuality, had been magnificently achieved.
The highly recommending exhibition is actually running until the 22nd, later, the gallerist will be happy to open the door for you, by appointment, until the 28th of December.
