Yesterday’s NHK Television brought up the news, that the Aichi Prefectural Police arrested famous entertainer HAGA Kenji 羽賀研二 on suspicion of false registration.
A core member of Japan’s largest yakuza gang and the vice president of the Japan Federation of Judicial Scriveners Associations were arrested on the same charges. This is a major social incident that goes beyond HAGA Kenji.
The seven suspects include MATSUYAMA Takeshi (69), a senior member of the Kodo-kai 弘道会, a core organization of the designated crime organization Yamaguchi-gumi, and NOZAKI Fumio (57), vice president of the Japan Federation of Judicial Scriveners Associations.
The Kodo-kai is a YAKUZA criminal organization based in Nagoya, Japan. It is a secondary organization of the Sixth Yamaguchi-gumi, the largest known YAKUZA syndicate in Japan.

MATSUYAMA Takeshi is the general chairman of the Kodo-kai, from which the current 6th generation leader of the Yamaguchi-gumi came. No matter how you look at it, the headline for this news should be “Shock to the legal profession, vice-chairman of the Japan Federation of Judicial Scriveners Associations arrested along with a senior member of the Yamaguchi-gumi,” not Haga Kenji.
The “Japan Federation of Judicial Scriveners Associations” is not some shady organization but the national umbrella organization for judicial scriveners associations, which are public organizations with which judicial scriveners are required to register, just like bar associations, and it is no laughing matter that its vice-president teamed up with HAGA Kenji to commit a crime.
This public news clearly manifests again the interrelationship between the YAKUZA and the Japanese show business, entertainment and music industry.
