日本アートの巨匠 折元立身 A Master of Japanese Art Tatsumi ORIMOTO

折元立身の没後、時が経つにつれ、この巨匠の独創性、重要性、そして日本美術史における地位がますます明らかになってきている。
The more time passes since the death of Tatsumi ORIMOTO, the more the originality, importance and position of this Master in Japanese Art History becomes clear.

折元さんには現代美術における「魔法の瞬間」を捉える、天才的な鋭い感覚があった。
彼は肯定的で前向きなエネルギーを放ち、「制御された脆弱性」という概念を実践する術を理解していた。
折元は意図的に、静謐の哲学、抗鬱的なオーラ、包み込むような温かい人間愛に満ちた眼差しを伝えた。芸術的体験としての脆さ。この種のカテゴリー的命令を理解し支持する、倫理的境界のない芸術共同体での実践。
数えきれない魔法のような瞬間、素晴らしい記憶、繊細な人間性——折元に深く感謝している。だからこそ彼は私たちの心の中で生き続けるのだ。❤️

Orimoto possessed a brilliant, genius-like, sense for the ‘moment of magic’ in contemporary art.
He commanded affirmative, positive-motivating energy and understood how to implement the concept of ‘controlled vulnerability’.
Orimoto purposely transmitted a philosophy of serenity, anti-depressing aura, eyes full of embracing, warm humanism. Fragility as artistic experience. Practising in an artistic community without ethical boundaries that understands and endorses this kind of categorical imperative.
We are very grateful to Orimoto for the numerous magical moments, for the wonderful memories, for his sensitive humanity. That’s why he lives on in all of our hearts. ❤️

青山｜目黒ではこの度、川崎出身／在住で国際的に活動した美術家・折元立身（1946–2025）の追悼展として、「折元 立身 : パンと / Tatsumi ORIMOTO : With Bread」を開催いたします。 折元は生涯にわたり多様な作品シリーズに取り組んできましたが、なかでもパンを用いたアクションは最もよく知られ、長年に渡り続けられた代表的な作品群です。

AOYAMA | MEGURO is pleased to present Tatsumi ORIMOTO: With Bread, a memorial exhibition dedicated to the internationally active artist Tatsumi Orimoto (1946–2025), who was born and based in Kawasaki. Throughout his life, Orimoto engaged in a wide range of artistic series, among which his actions involving bread are the most widely known and long-standing bodies of work.
