中道改革連合の党代表選（12日告示、13日投開票）への出馬を表明した階猛氏（59）は11日、党本部で記者団の取材に応じ、党再建の方針について「政策論争で勝負する。スキャンダル追及よりも政策で与党をうならせたい」と語った。階氏は立憲民主党出身の中道候補として、先の衆院選岩手1区で8回目の当選を果たした。

階氏は11日、代表選への出馬表明後、国会内で改めて記者団の前で説明。「今までは先輩の下で実務をやる立場だったが、今回の選挙で先輩がいなくなり、私も党を引っ張る立場にならなければいけないと感じた」と語った。

野党第一党として政権に対峙する姿勢についても、従来の「スキャンダル追及」ではなく「行政監視の役割としてエビデンスとロジックを大事にする」と強調した。

党のイメージ戦略に関して、ＳＮＳなども活用し「クリエイティブなことを議論しているところを発信すべきだと思う」と構想を口にした。
