Extraordinary curatorial practice by Arthur Fink and Oskar Weiss: ‘Carona’

Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Monte Verità, Tegna, Carona…, spiritual refugia exposing tremendous social freedom for artists, creators, dancers, feminists, poets, novelists, and, in the context of turbo-capitalism, un lieu bohème pour les libertinages. The exhibition “Carona” focusses on a special part of Ticino in the 70’s, remarkable thought-provoking juxtapositions of artistic practices, curated by Arthur Fink and Oskar Weiss. Carefully constructed from historic documents, investigative research, intermingled with personal narratives. Subconscious art, Conceptualism’s system-based methods, psychedelic images, social commentary via a charming retro-video installation. Exquisite, multi-faced literary works compose a collective metaphorical lineage and examine an utopian communal lifestyle-place, where attitudes became form of eclectic countercultures.
A complex reading of the self as artist, giving the viewer a wonderful navigation through aesthetic, conceptual, intellectually provoking body of works in which conversation ultimately leads to the understanding of one crucial part of contemporary art history in Switzerland. Carona stripped bare, ‘terra separata‘ de-coded.
