First let me explain about using (not using) the word “hate” まず：
「ところどころ、57歳の村上の口調はきつく感じられます。例えば、「I was increasingly hated in Japan」の中で使われている「hate」についてですが、私は、自分の語彙の中に「嫌い」という言葉を存在させないようにしています。特に、国際交流関係では、ふさわしくありません。こういう気持ちの場合、私は、don’t like, not my taste, don’t endorse, not my interestという風に実践にしています。」

Contemporary art is still expensive. There is no progress in the logic of an unequal society. Living in Japan, under the protection of the United States, we enjoy a pseudo-capitalist system, and everything is built on that leeway. It’s okay to be surprised because the value is beyond your imagination, but it’s okay to be criticized.

最初はフェイクニュースかと思ったが、実際の出来事だった。
私は興味をそそられ、アメリカの文化レベルの高さを思い知らされました。
文明的な先進国は、すべての人が平等に尊重される言語も学ばなければなりません。元大統領の口から「HATE」という言葉をメディアで子供たちにぶつけることは許されるべきではない。

「HATE」という言葉は決して使ってはなりません。 「嫌い」を使う代わりに、「好きではない」、「私の好みではない」、「私の世界観に合わない」と言うのもいいでしょう。
子どもたちはこれを親から学ぶべきです。
トランプ氏は意図的に「テイラー・スウィフトなんて大嫌い！」という文章を発表した。

これはアメリカが未開の国であることをはっきりと示しています。
住みたくない、働きたくない国。
アメリカ国民よ、恥を知れ！

First, I thought it was fake news, but it turned out to be a real event.
I was intrigued, and I was reminded of the cultural level of the United States.
A civilized, advanced country should also have learned a vernacular in which every person is equally respected. Confronting children in the media with the word “HATE” from the mouth of an ex-president should not be allowed.
The word “HATE” should never be used. Instead of using “Hate”, you can also say “don’t like”, or “not my taste”, or “doesn’t fit into my world view”.
Children should learn this kind of conversation from their parents.
Mr. Trump deliberately published the sentence: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”.

It shows clearly, that the USA is an uncivilized country.
A country where I don’t want to live or work.
Shame on you, US Citizens!

As we all know, the problem lies with the US population, who elected Donald Trump president for a second term. Our problem is the people in the US.
When the outside world observes Trump’s insane behaviour and his threats against allies, and we at the same time observe that there is no real action from the US public, Congress, the US Supreme Court, or the US media about this insanity, we will all have to conclude that the US accepts this behaviour.
The public in the US think the US is entitled to a certain position in the world where there is no room for decent behaviour and where there are no norms and rules.
That means that we all have to conclude that the US ― not only Trump ― has betrayed the international order that the US, with its Western partners, including Japan, were the main architects of after the Second World War.
This is the conclusion that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney so clearly laid out in his speech at Davos on 21st of January. We simply cannot trust the US to play by the rules anymore.
Americans live in the illusion that the US can do everything on its own, despite the fact that the US for nearly 20 years has lived beyond its means. US private and government consumption has been funded by, among others, Japanese and European central banks and pension funds. But we now have to ask ourselves ― why would we trade in dollars? Why would we put our savings into US Treasury bonds?
If the US threatens the territory of allies, then the US acts as an authoritarian bully nation.
If Trump can tariff nations that will not give up their territory, then there is certainly no reason to believe that the US will not introduce capital controls. And if that is a risk, why would you risk investing in the US? It is not a question about Japan or Europe standing up to the US. It is a question about being prudent with our investments ― about reducing risks.
European people have now completely lost trust in the US. And so has Canada. And so will Japan.

ご存じのように、問題はドナルド・トランプ氏を大統領に 2 度も選出した米国国民です。私たちの問題は米国国民なのです。
外界がトランプ氏の非常識な行動や同盟国に対する脅威を観察し、同時に米国国民、議会、米国最高裁判所、米国メディアがこの非常識な行動に対して実質的な行動を起こしていないことを観察すると、米国がこの行動を受け入れているという結論に達せざるを得ません。
米国国民は、米国が世界において、良識ある行動の余地も規範やルールも存在しない、ある種の立場に立つ権利があると考えているのです。
つまり、トランプ氏だけでなく、米国が、日本を含む西側諸国とともに第二次世界大戦後に構築した国際秩序を裏切ったと、我々は結論づけざるを得ません。
これは、カナダのマーク・カーニー首相が 1 月 21 日のダボスでの演説で明確に述べた結論です。もはや、米国がルールに従って行動することを信頼することは不可能です。
アメリカ人は、20年近くも収入以上の生活を送ってきたにもかかわらず、アメリカは単独で何でもできると錯覚している。アメリカの民間および政府の消費は、とりわけ日本やヨーロッパの中央銀行や年金基金によって賄われてきた。しかし、今、私たちは自問しなければならない。なぜドルで取引をするのか？なぜ貯蓄を米国債に投資するのか？
米国が同盟国の領土を脅かすならば、米国は権威主義的ないじめ国家として振る舞っていることになる。
トランプが領土を譲らない国に関税を課せるなら、米国が資本規制を導入しないとは到底考えられない。それがリスクであるならば、なぜ米国への投資を危険に晒すのか？これは日本や欧州が米国に立ち向かうかどうかの問題ではない。投資において慎重であること―リスクを減らすこと―が問われているのだ。
欧州の人々は今や米国への信頼を完全に失った。カナダも同様だ。日本もそうなるだろう。

I am not alone in believing that the US is increasingly viewed as an adversary or “enemy” by former allies. Surveys in Europe and Canada show that 60% of respondents now consider US citizens to be arrogant, conceited, and idiotic.
I hereby call for a boycott of American artists and products. Please avoid American cultural goods and exports. No cultural exchange between American and non-American artists!
