Noam Chomsky, a renowned left-wing academic and activist, and Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, had in common a personal and professional association that lasted for several years, even after Epstein’s 2008 sex crimes conviction. Chomsky described having “regular contact” with Epstein as a “most valuable experience” and referred to him as a “highly valued friend” and a “regular source of intellectual exchange and stimulation”. Chomsky credited Epstein with teaching him a “great deal” about global financial markets and the economy.
Chomsky noted that Epstein’s “limitless curiosity, extensive knowledge, penetrating insights, and thoughtful appraisals” often led him to “rethink crucial issues”. Epstein facilitated various arrangements for Chomsky, including Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. Offering access to his residences in New York and New Mexico.
In 2018, approximately $270,000 was transferred from an Epstein-associated account to Chomsky.
Chomsky stated this was his own money, routed through Epstein’s accounts to reorganize shared funds after his first wife’s death, and did not involve any funds from Epstein. Chomsky’s second wife, Valeria, also maintained friendly correspondence with Epstein.
Continued Association Post-Conviction: Their meetings and correspondence continued well after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Chomsky defended this by stating that, according to prevailing U.S. norms, a person who has served their sentence has a “clean slate”.
Epstein Victims Ask Congress to Ensure Justice Dept. Releases All Files
More than a dozen women called for congressional hearings to ensure that the Justice Department is fully complying with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Jess Michaels, who has said that Jeffrey Epstein sexually assaulted her more than three decades ago, said she was so upset over how the Justice Department was releasing its investigative files on the disgraced financier that she called her lawyer to draft a letter.
“I was so angry, and she took my words and put them into better context and took out all the swear words,” Ms. Michaels said. “The thing I am really frustrated with is that D.O.J. broke the law.”
The letter, signed by more than a dozen women who have said they were victims of Mr. Epstein and released on Monday, called on Congress to hold hearings to ensure that the Justice Department is fully complying with the terms of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
The statement also notes that the women, who call themselves “Survivor Sisters,” are frustrated that the Justice Department has largely failed to meet with them or discuss their concerns.
The Justice Department has not responded to an email sent Monday requesting comment.
The law, which President Trump initially opposed but signed in November, requires the Justice Department to make public all the information it had gathered on Mr. Epstein save for limited redactions to protect the privacy of hundreds of victims.
One goal is to determine whether authorities had fully looked into whether any of the scores of wealthy and famous men once associated with Mr. Epstein had participated in the sexual abuse of teenage girls and young women.
