Extremely boring, pretentious, outdated works by “American Artist” Cady Noland @ GAGOSIAN GALLERY Park & 75, New York City, “AMERICA” キャディ・ノーランド

Do you hear the people sing?
Say, Cady, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!
Cady, you are not joining our crusade.
You sold “Tanya as Bandit” (1989) to Wall Street “GORILLA” Richard S. Fuld, one of the 25 People on Earth who are responsible for the Financial Crisis. Let’s recapitulate “The Ghost of Wall Street”, Dick Fuld’s quote: “When I find a short-seller, I want to tear his heart out and eat it before his eyes while he is still alive.”

Richard (Dick) Fuld was the last CEO of Lehman Brothers prior to its collapse ten years ago on 15 September 2018.
Richard (Dick) Fuld was the last CEO of Lehman Brothers. The collapse of Wall Street’s Lehman Brothers, which in many ways is synonymous with the Global Financial Crisis and the consequent loss of 6 million jobs and collapse of the housing market in the US. The Euro-zone-Crisis and the Japan-Financial-Crisis, bail-outs of many key financial institutions around the world followed.

Why don’t you exhibit anymore at our beloved and engaged Paula Cooper Gallery?
Now you sold also your soul to the most capitalistic art dealer in “America”.
You’re pro-actively embracing playboy, womaniser, the Enfant Terrible of the Global Art World, Larry Gagosian.

Looking at your new works, those Budweiser and Coca-Cola things, a déjà-vu experience, repetitive practice, nothing enlightening per se. Extremely boring, pretentious, a forced strenuousness, doggedness in the artist’s attitude makes itself felt.
Explanatory texts by the “Kuroko” 黒衣 artist, who obviously plays the “cool daughter” of famous, mediocre painter Kenneth Noland, the unapproachable for argumentum ad hominem, nowhere to be seen, neither in the gallery nor at its website or in the mail-newsletter.
We’re writing ’23; 〜 a kind of melancholic deviation, outworn artistic practice had been stripped bare by her followers, even.

The ‘funny’ aspect @ Larry Gagosian’s practice lies in his art dealing concept of showing multiple exhibitions at the same time in the same city.
For the media a burlesque JOKE! 🤣
In this direct confrontation, the intentional “social critique” by Cady Noland had been easily “erased” by Italian Cecilia Alemani with her overwhelming popular curatorial practice about “TETSUYA ISHIDA – My Anxious Self”; September 12 – October 21, 2023 @ GAGOSIAN Gallery, 555 West 24th Street, New York City.

As Cady is not known here in Japan, I may attach some more pics about her works, taken by me. Normally, she’s working in a wide variety of media, her sustained engagement with the profane has often been inspired by moments embedded in the “American” collective consciousness. Me, as a child of “multiracial” parents, living in a foreign country (Japan), the actual political situation in the U.S. influences the way how to talk, how to judge 2000 years of Asian, Arabian or African history of slavery and how to assess one’s own and other’s behaviour.
On various occasions here on ART+CULTURE, I emphasised that the term “America” should cover the whole South-, Middle- and North-America territory. However, abstractly speaking, U.S. citizens don’t care about the proper use of language.

To “counter” my actual “GAGOSIAN” perception, I strongly recommend Cady to contact the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) for a retrospective. See their superb curatorial practice in the context of KUBOTA Shigeko’s works.
