We were able to be at their birth on Dec 2, 2024 because we changed our flights. フライトを変更して、ギリギリ出産に立ち会えました！

Our journey began in Summer 2021. We got married in 2023. They were born after egg donation in CA and surrogacy in TX. Our egg donor flew from Japan, and the surrogate lives in the USA. They are two different women. We could somewhat decide the timing of the births. That’s how I managed to do my show in Tokyo. 美術館イベントでも話しましたが、2021年夏にプロセスがスタート、2023年に同性婚。カリフォルニア州での卵子提供、テキサス州での代理出産を経て、生まれました。卵子提供者は日本から渡米、代理出産者はアメリカ在住の別の女性です。出産予定日は、ある程度、国立新美術館の展覧会日程に合わせて調整することができました。

ー（費用は高額で（総額一千五百万円 = 10万米ドル以上になることが多い）、代理店手数料、代理母への報酬（2万米ドル～5万5千米ドル程度）、弁護士費用や医療費などが含まれる；つまり、医と夫は赤ちゃんたちのために三千一百万円 = 20万米ドル（！）を支払ったということ）ー、

医くん、今頃、君は「刑務所にいる」はずだ。2024年10月、イタリアは「妊娠代理出産」を「普遍的犯罪」とする法律を可決し（“gestational surrogacy” = “universal crime”）、代理出産が合法である国であっても、代理出産を求める市民を対象とした。

In countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Japan, China, and Taiwan, gestational surrogacy is prohibited, and violators face imprisonment.

Ei, by now, you should be “in prison.” In October 2024, Italy passed a law designating “gestational surrogacy” as a “universal crime,” targeting citizens seeking surrogacy even in countries where surrogacy is legal.
